About Us
ORTOVOX SPORTARTIKEL GmbH is a German sporting goods manufacturer specialized in mountain sports. The company is known for producing avalanche transceivers, backpacks and functional outdoor and mountain sports apparel. A particular focus is placed on the use of wool. Sustainable thinking guides ORTOVOX’s business activities across all areas.
Our Subproject
ORTOVOX, in a manner typical for the textile and apparel sector, operates with several global supplier locations as well as product lines that are partially or entirely manufactured in Europe. The company sources merino wool from Tasmania, has it processed into finished products by manufacturers in Europe and Asia, and distributes these products from Germany to customers worldwide. Depending on the country and distribution aspects, ORTOVOX is obliged to observe various legal requirements and recycling regulations, which they need to communicate along their supply chain. In particular, the implementation of the new EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) will be of significance for ORTOVOX and its suppliers in the future. In the framework of the RETRAKT project, ORTOVOX intends to examine future implementation of the regulation as a case study. In addition, the company will model a circular economy-based transformation of its value chain for merino wool and merino wool products.
Our Motivation
The transition from a linear economic model to a functioning circular economy is one of the greatest challenges companies face. It resembles a mountain ascent that can only be mastered with a strong team. RETRAKT provides us with the opportunity to unite diverse perspectives and opens the way to a truly holistic view of this transformation.
